The primary disadvantage of this site is the adder
length of haul road with a 2500 foot verticle drop to reach
a paved road. Also, the greatly extended haul road would
increase the amount of particulates introduced into the
ambient air of the .area.
Alternative #9 (Labeled "4" on the map)
This location is the old Holly Sugar limestone quarries
adjacent to the paved access road to the Oasis Creek housing
development and the Interstate 70 frontage road between
Glenwood Springs and West Glenwood. It is at an elevation
of 6200 feet and would require only a few hundred yards of
unpaved access roads.
This location is unacceptable because it is adjacent to
inhabited areas where the noise, dust, and further visual
scarring of the mountainside would be much more offensive
than at any of the other sites.
