WALKWAY CULVERT DESIGN
r~
U
During midterm review of [his permit, the Division requested a design be submitted for an existing, unnamed
culvert that is located under the conveyor belt between the crusher building and the conical stack tube near [he
sump pump, see Exhibit 12-2, Surface Water Control Map. This culvert actually lays in Ditch 3 and acts as a
wa0.way to cross the ditch and get [o the sump pump. The existing culvert has a 12-inch diameter and is 7 feet
long. The culvert in question also allows for runofl'in Ditch 3 to flow through it and continue to designed culvert
LFC-2, which is immediately downgradient. Culvert LFC-2 is also 12-inches in diameter and the design
information for is contained in Appendix 12-4. Therefore, the design parameters for culvert LFC-2 can apply
to the wallway culvert. Since both culverts are the same size, the wallavay culvert should not restrict the design
flow of ditch 3, that the performance of the ditch has not been compromised by the cuh~ert, and the culvert is
adequately sized.
u
• 'T2-o 2
Su6M~T-(,yL D/oTe Iz/t7 ~96
