Long
Dwrsion Ovecmr
I received a copy of the proposed CDPS CO-0042161 renewal via e-mail from Darlene Casey. After
reviewing the proposed document, the Division has one clarification to make:
On page 2 of the Summary of Rationale, Facility Description, part B. Waste Water Treatment
Description; the sentence reads "Briefly, a single sedimentation pond treats underground mine drainage
and surface water runoff from the site." This is not accurate. More accurately, "Three treatment cells
aze used in combination to treat underground mine water drainage." The system is not designed nor
used to treat surface water nmoff. The permittee adds chemical flocculants and coagulants......"
The public comment period closes April 30, 2001. We hope this correction can be incorporated into the
final permit. The Division has no other comments regazding this permit at this time. Please call if you
have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jane Binns
Envi nmental Protection Specia{ist
C:/jhb/C82056/Dischazge permits/000042161memo.doc
