These include:
1 tree, 11 shrubs, 10 graminoids, 18 forbs, and 3 succulents.
Graminoids are the dominant life form with 38.5 percent cover,
followed by shrubs (22.1 percent cover) and forbs (4.1 percent
cover). Total vegetation cover is 65.3 percent. Litter and
soil are moderately high with 15.0 and 12.9 percent cover,
respectively. Rock cover is low at 6.8 percent. Ants affect
the ecology of this vegetation type by eliminating vegetation
and increasing soil cover. Large circular sites up to 8 meters
in diameter are systematically scattered throughout the communi-
ty. See Table 4.8-3.
• Greasewood is the dominant shrub species in this vegetation type
with 12.1 percent cover. Biq sagebrush art~em~e4a ~h4den~ata is
also a common shrub (7.6 percent cover). Trees are not present
except for an occasional plains cottonwood Popu4u~ de4#o4dea
along East Salt Creek.
Graminoid cover is relatively high and is dominated by cheatgrass
Bnomua #ectonum (37.1 percent cover), an introduced annual gram-
inoid which is indicative of overgrazed areas. Minor graminoids
include western wheatgrass Aghopynon amti~ht4, Salina wildrye EQymub
aa4tinu4, and sand dropseed Sponobo4ue cnyp~andnue.
Forb cover is sparse.
