4-100
• Creek where Greasewood Shrublands have been cleared for the
production of hay.
Figure 4.8-1, vegetation map, illustrates the vegetation types
of the permit area while Table 4.8-2 provides data on the
acreage of each vegetation type as well as for existing and
planned disturbances in the permit area. The total permit
area is 765 acres. Presently, there are 9 acres of mine re-
lated disturbances and an additional 15 acres of disturbance
planned.
Each of the vegetation types is described in the following
sections. Affected area types are described from quantitative
data collected during the 1980 growing season.
4.6.10.1 Greasewood Shrubland
The Greasewood Shrubland vegetation type occurs on the flat
terrain along East Salt Creek at the mouth of Munger Canyon.
The major soil type of this community is the Glendive sandy ~
loam; a deep, well drained, medium textured soil. Large in-
clusions of the Havre loam;/a deep, well drained, medium-
fine textured soil are also present in the community. The
Havre loam is very sodic below one-half inch and is moderately
saline. These soil characteristics are often associated with
•-----
greasewood Sancoba.tua vehm~cu2atue vegetation types. See
photograph in this sub section.
