Moist to dry sand and gravel can then be conveyed by <br />means of loader, truck or conveyor belt to stockpiles or processing plant. <br />^ QUARRYING <br />Drilling and blasting is used to liberate virgin stone from its natural consolidated state. <br />Haul trucks are typically used to take the material to the plant for processing. <br />D CRUSHING (PROCESSING). <br />Processing can consist of as many as 4 different stages of crushing. Screening <br />between crushing stages allows for different product types. Water may or may not be <br />used for material washing, but dust suppression is necessary. <br />Q STOCKPILING <br />(Check if applicable) <br />Q Overburden and topsoil <br />Stockpiles may occur in the form of earthen berms. <br />Q Sand and Gravel: <br />Raw and processed aggregates are stockpiled for future sales. <br />^ Aggregate mix for concrete production: <br />Aggregate can be stored in stockpiles, and loaded into a ground hopper as needed, and <br />then conveyed to the plant, or loaded directly into a series of hoppers located above the <br />plant which directly discharge into the plant. <br />^ Aggregate mix for asphalt production: <br />Raw material can be stockpiled or put into storage tanks. <br />Q RECLAMATION <br />Reclamation is an ongoing activity throughout the life of a pit or a quarry, and takes <br />place in a contemporaneous fashion as is practicable. Reclamation involves proper <br />sloping, seeding, erosion control and protection from off-site impacts. <br />
