combination of natural processes and operational techniques.
Surface facilities for this project will disturb a relatively small area (approximately 45.2
acres). Reclamation/revegetation of construction areas will occur immediately upon
completion. In addition, facilities have been designed to take advantage of the
topographic features of the area being located at the base of the Grand Hogback.
Transfer of coal from the prep plant to the loading facility will be with covered haul
trucks. The only exposed coal will be the temporary coal storage pile which will be
loaded with and can be maintained wet during dry and/or wind periods with the use of
sprinklers. The coal stockpile will be limited to the approximate volume of 3 unit trains
and will be completely removed, periodically, at the time of loading. With the initial
moisture content and the ability to maintain moisture, fugitive dust should be minimal.
• Refuse is proposed to be transferred from the prep plant by slurry pipeline to the
disposal area within the mine, so there will be no dust emissions from this part of the
operation.
Vehicle speed and off-road use will be restricted.
4.6.2 Fish and Wildlife Plan
To protect and enhance the fish and wildlife resources of the project site, the Operator
proposes to make every effort to work with DOW and other appropriate agencies in the
planning, construction, implementation, and abandonment of its mining operations.
•
NCIG-Coal Ridge No. 1 4.75 5/00
