Dear Mr. Moore:
This is the Wildlife Statement for this proposed gravel mine. Impacts to
wildlife from this project should be minimal if the following recartrrlendations
are incorporated into the operation and reclamation plans:
1) Topsoil and vegetation should be removed from the project area in
stages rather than from the entire area all at mce. This will
maintain existing habitats at the mine for as long as possible.
2> Reclamation of mined areas should be dme as often as is practicably
possible. This will minimize the extent of area that is not
vegetated and providing some habitat value at any given time.
3) Runoff from the mine should be kept within the project area.
If at all possible we recommend that the eastern 1/2 of the affected area,
where the topsoil has been destroyed, also be reclaimed. This would restore
wildlife habitat values to that area.
