Simpson, Deputy State Engineer~~~`
SUBJECT: Hopemore Shaft & Leadville Custom Mill, File No. M-90-057
Section 20, T9S, R79W, 6 th P.M.
We have reviewed the above referenced mining permit application per your
request of May 15, 1990. The referral indicates that the mine workings will
be dry and dewatering will not be required. Our comments as to the water
supply aspects of this application are contained in the following paragraphs.
Exhibit C - The Mining Plan of the application states that the estimated water
demand of the project is 200 to 300 gallons per day (0.22 to 0.34 acre-feet
per year) for domestic and mining needs. This exhibit also states that the
water will be obtained from the Parkville Water District and trucked to the
mine site.
In the portion of the application entitled Milling Plan, the section on Mill
Utilities, Water, states that "Water for domestic and milling needs is
furnished from a properly permitted well located in the SE Quarter of Section
28, Twp. 9S, Range 80W.". This section further states that this well may
consumptively use up to six (6) acre feet per year. This office has no record
of a well permitted in the SE 1/4 of said Section 28 which may be used for
commercial/industrial purposes.
Based upon the discussion above, we can recommend approval of this application
based on a water supply from the Parkville Water District only. If the
applicant can furnish proof to us that the well in the SE 1/4 of Section 28 is
properly permitted and/or decreed for commercial/industrial uses, we would
consider recommending approval based upon the well as a source of water at
that time.
Please contact this office if you have any questions.
~s
of ~~<o ~
Few ~R90
y 0
y'. ~~ ~•
~ ' n .
