It is estimated that the maximum volume of backfill and grading on the remaining <br />20.3 acres is 40,367 cubic yards. The re-calculated area to be re-vegetated is 20.3 <br />acres. <br />3. in accordance with Rule 6.4.5(2xfxiv), please clarify the timing of when the sorghum <br />cover crop will be seeded, and when the final reclamation seed mix will beinter-seeded. <br />The cover crop will be planted during late spring or summer months, allowing the <br />crop to mature prior to planting a grass seed in the cover. The grass will be seeded <br />between the months of November and April, depending on weather rnnditions. <br />6.4.7 EXffiBTI' G -Water Information <br />4, The Applicant indicates that the maximum depth of excavation is 15 feet, and that the <br />depth of groundwater is approximately 20 feet below ground surface. Since the mining <br />operation is designed to be a dry pit with no groundwater exposed, please provide a <br />commitment to limit the depth of excavation to no more than two (2) feet above <br />groundwater at any time throughout the operation. If the groundwater surface is <br />iNe~ted at any time, the operator must immediately bacld'ill such excavation to <br />provide a minimum cover of 2 feet above the groundwater surface. Please respond. <br />If groundwater were enrnnntered, the area will be back8lled to provide • minimum <br />of 2 feet of coverage above the groundwater sorfice. There may be times that extesa <br />rainfall causes the intermittent creek to flow. Daring those periods, water any <br />appear in the cneekbed until the flmr abopa and it fmaDy soaks in. Those <br />otxarrrvcea would not be treated as an enroanter with groundwater. <br />6.4.12 EXI-IIDTI' G - Reclamation Costs <br />5. Please revise the Exhrbit L -Reclamation Cost as ~xssary based on responses to <br />other adequacy concerns. <br />A eew cost estimate and calculation note page are provided, based on revised <br />information provided ro response to queatian number 2. <br />6.4.13 EXHIBIT M -Other Permits a~ Licenves <br />6. Attached are copies of comment letters received from the Colorado Historical Society, <br />Office of the State F~gineer, and the US Corps of Engineers.
