Annual Renewal Cost: Renewal Fee $50.00 Administration 15.00 Total Renewal Cost: $65.00 The total cost for a 5 acre pit in service tiao years would be $9,835.00 or $1,967.00 per acre not including the cost of gravel or equipment operation. At the present time, we have a proposal to use 34 pits. For the sake of conversation let's say we operate 30 pits per year. It is possible at some date in the future we could be opening 30 pits at a cost of $37,650.00 per year; renewing 30 pits at a cost of $1,950.00 per year; reclaiming 30 pits at a cost of $255,450.00 per year. This would bring our pit costs (before using gravel) to a cost of $295,050.00 per year. Of course, one alternative is to use fewer pits, which results in higher transportation costs; so it seems we cannot gain. 19e would like to see a simplified permit form for non-commercial County pit operation. A visit by your staff might show them that many gravel pit sites do not justify an extensive reclamation project, simply a resloping and clean up of the area. Most Counties today do not have the manpower or funds to meet the criteria outlined in the Mined Land Reclamation Act. We would like to invite you or a member of your staff to visit E1 Paso County to observe the pit operations so you can see our problem. This could also result in our knowing exactly what you would expect on the permit application. I I i
