~11ned Lard Reclamation Board
?.;s. dnne Baldrige
1313 Sherman Street
Room 423
Denver, Colorado E0203
Lear Ms. Baldrige,

January 17, 1930
+~e, the undersigned, Nish to express our concer
to the Colorado ?lined Land Reclamation Board about t
quarry operations near our homes in the Buckhorn Val
Our main concern is that the natural beauty of t e
area is endangered. Quarries from 60 to 100 years a o
left piles of rubble that have only recently acquired
a patina or coloration that has allo~+ed them to bleu .
to a degree, into the surrounding landscape. Fea of
those rubble piles or quarry pits have much if any
vegetation gror.ing on or in them.
The current quarry operators, those of the past
three or four years, should be required to reclaim t e
results of those current operations and to establishes
an ongoing reclamation program. _
Probably the most important aspect of ongdng recla-
mation •~ould be the establishment of a grourdcover ( r
example, grass) on the piles of overburden. This sh uld
be accomplished before rains wash the soil axay from
bet:.een the rock rubble.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

c ~.~ ~~~
v ~ ~ ~
BUCKHORN VALLEY LAfiD 9
HOME OW~ISBS
