!Mined Land Reclamation Board
!•ts. dnne Baldrige
1313 Sherman Street
Room 423
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Ms. Baldrige,

January 17, 1930
Ne, the undersigned, .~ish to express our concer
to the Colorado !lined Land Reclamation Board about t e
quarry operations near our homes in the Buckhorn Yal ey.
Our main concern is that the natural beauty of he
area is endangered. Quarries from 60 to 100 years a o
left piles of rubble that have only recently acquire
a patina or coloration that has alloyed them to bleu ,
to a degree, into the surrounding landscape. Fea of
those rubble piles or quarry pits have much if any ~
vegetation gro~.ing on or in them. it
The current quarry operators, those of the past
three or four years, should be required to reclaim t
results of those current operations and to establish
an ongoing reclamation program.
Probably the most important aspect of ongdng rei
mation •~+ould be the establishment of a grounsicover (:
ezample, grass) on the piles of overburden. This shi
be accomplished before rains wash the soil aV.ay from
bet:,een the rock rubble.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
i/~8~a6 ~?X ~rn~r~
gsi 9 Nce ~ ~ ysoit-ov.,u~lEo..~~a
i~i9/° S~q ~K1~
BUCKHORN VALLEY LAND
HONE OWDTSBS
bT
Auld
