Water monitoring of the alluvial wells upstream and downstream of the mine has taken
place for the entire term of the permit. Since 1997, new alluvial wells were installed
much closer to the mine to more accurately measure the influence of the mine. Trout
Creek has also been sampled for the entire term of the permit, however, the sampling
point was moved to immediately below the mine in 1997 to accurately measure the
mine influence on water quality.
Since the movement of the sampling points in 1997, 6 years of sampling has shown no
problems with the alluvial water nor the water in Trout Creek. This fact is supported by
lab analysis done in each of these years by ACZ Labs of Steamboat Springs and has
been documented in each years Annual Water Report. For this reason, water monitoring
should not continue beyond the 2002 sampling season.
TR 10/02 Page 65.07
