Egidi, Has, sad GetaB of the <br />Colorado Department of Public Health sad Enviroamord (the Department) requesting information on <br />radiation montoring during open-pit mining operations. Replies to your quastione seams from throe of <br />the Department's Enviroameatal divisions. <br />The ~Ratiiation Management Unit (RMIn of the Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Division <br />offers the foilowiag oommoata. <br />The RMU has no jurisdictional oversight of quarry operations that may prodrux radioactive <br />media incidental to the principal nriuing aotivides. The RMU will make suggestions based <br />oa expertise in madiometrie meaeutement and evaluation. <br />2. The RMU does not have say aperxfie writt~ guidance regat+ding quarry operations. We can <br />offer reasonable suggestions for assessing coacmms about army pmducad radieactive media. <br />.
