Box 1600
ALamosa, Co. 81101
Attention: Mr. Gary Dodson
BENCHMARK ASSESSMENT OF THE SEISMIC HAZARD F(~R THE
1 SAN LUIS SEGMENT OF THE SANGRE DE CRISTO
FAULT ZONE, COLORADO
Gentlemen:
t At the request of Mr. Jim Johnson of Stephan, Robertson
& Kerston I have briefly evaluated the seismic potential of
' the Sangre de Cristo fault in the vicinity of the Battle
Mountain Gold project near Rito Seco Creek. My benchmark
evaluation indicates approximately a 5 percent chance that
the site will experience an earthquake having a magnitude
7+ in the next 100 years. The Lack of historical seismicity
makes a probability determination for smaller earthquakes
', indeterminate.
I I have outlined a scope of additional work which I
believe will significantly improve our understanding ~f
earthquake hazard in the area. Phase I corresponds to this
report. Phases II and IV, and Phases II, III and IV w~u1d
correspond to two possible continuation options.
' If I can be of further assistance please contact me
at your convenience.
Sincerely,
/,~" "' i
Charles Glass

1
1
