We will attempt to address most with Western Aggregate but would like to make the
following comments for the record and your consideration.
The document states that the property will be reclaimed for rangeland use, however, the
current use, consistent with use as a buffer zone, is actually more a "wildlife habitat."
Therefore we believe the reclamation should be to that use.
Our nnajor concern is that Rocky Flats is currently a Superfund site. DOE entered into an
interagency agreement with EPA and the Colorado Deparunent of Health (CDH) in order to
carry out investigation and remediation activities in compliance with applicable laws.
Obviously, we would like assurances that Western Aggregates' activities will not interfere
with these activities nor aggravate the existing situation.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Frazer Lockhart at (303) 966-4538.
Sincerely,
vrd P. tm nson
~~
Assistant Manager for
Environmental Management
~:
Karen Hellner, Jefferson County
Board of Adjustments
