7. The access roads will be restored as closely as possible to the approximate
original contour, re-seeded, fertilized, and mulched as above. An temporary
seed mix as approved by the USFS may be used to accommodate an
intermediate seeding to help prevent erosion or sedimentation on road cuts and
fills.
8. The drill pads and access roads reclamation procedure outlined above will
apply only to those aeeas newly disturbed for this proposed project. Existing
roads will be left in a condition equal to or better than that observed on
Mountain Coal Company's entry into the azea or to the satisfaction of the
USFS representative.
9. Any coal recovered incidental to this project will be in the form of cuttings or
core and would either be taken back to the mine site or disposed of in the mud
pits.
ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE
The road construction is expected to commence as soon as practicable to accommodate a
reasonable drilling season once approvals aze granted by the USFS and the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology. Duration of the project will be a function of the
success of the initial drilling, monitoring, and effectiveness of de-gassing. Subsequent
drilling should occur throughout the next several months. More than one drilling unit
maybe employed.
MEASURES TO BE USED TO COMPLY WITH PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
FOR THE PROJECT (43 CFR 3484.1(al. 30 CFR 815.15, and Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology Rules and Re~ulationsl
1. Operator shall comply with applicable requirements of surface management
agency, 30 CFR 815.15, or approved State program.
Mountain Coal has reviewed, and will comply with, all applicable requirements of
30 CFR 815.15 and the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Regulations stated in
C.R.S. 34-33-101.
2. Install casing and blowout preventers in drill holes in known oil, gas, and
geothermal areas.
The West Flat Iron area is not in a producing natural gas field. Gas is not known
to have been encountered in any of the previous exploration drilling efforts in the
azea. Since the proposed drilling will not penetrate the Rollins Sandstone or into
the underlying Mancos Shale, blowout preventers will not be used. Casing will be
set in each hole as necessary to maintain circulation of cuttings to the surface.
3. Drill hole plugging requirements.
