Attached is a letter authorizing me to act as their agent in this process. The
owners want to get these things in line and spend their time producing and selling aggregate and
aggregate products. They have delegated this responsibility to Gary Reed who you have met. He
seems like a capable and willing man.
We toured pit the after I had a chance to review your inspection report. Work on the
Problems/Possble Violations is in progress. We would request an extension until December 1, 1998,
or even January 1, 1999 to more thoroughly investigate the ponded water. The operator feels that
it is seepage from a nearby irrigation ditch as opposed to groundwater. Mr. Reed did drain the entve
ponded water area on Saturday, October 24, 1998. The requested extension period would give more
time to determine the true source of the water. If it is decided that the source is groundwater as
opposed to ditch seepage, the pit floor will be raised to prevent this exposure.
I have just received the entve pit file printout, which I will be reviewing and also supplying a copy ,
to Mr. Reed for our further use.
Your cooperation in this project will be appreciated.
LVB/gb
cc: Hard Rock
Cordially, J D
`H~'~'~ ~
Lloyd V.
