Outfalls OOIA,
002, 003, 004A, 014, 015, 017, 018, 019, 020, 021, 022, 023, 024, 025, and 026 have not been constructed.
The mine is closed and no disturbance has occurred within the drainage areas reporting to these proposed
ponds.
Outfalls 005, 006, 009A, and l0A have been constructed and no discharge occurred from these facilities
during dte Quarter.
Pond 008 was observed discharging on August 3 and August 29, 2006. An exccedence of the daily
maxmmm for settleable solids was recorded at this site.
Ponds 009B and 007 were observed discharging on August 27 and August 29, 2006 respectively and the
required samples were collected. Total Iron was determined to be ]3.60 mg/1 of pond 007 and 27 mg/1 at
009B. Both exceeded the daily maximum of 7.0 mg/I. An exceedence of the daily maximum for settleable
solids was recorded at these sites.
The Lorencito Canyon Mice is in final reclamation and no additional disturbance is projected.
Approximately 50 acres of a total of approximate 79 acres reporting to these ponds had been seeded and
vegetation established in Augnst of 2006. The remaining 29 acres reporting to these ponds were seeded and
mulched this fall. Suing and the establishment of vegetation will reduce runoff and sedunent levels
reporting w these ponds and should prevent fitture exceedence of e8luent limitations.
Please contact me if there are any questions or if additional information is required.
Sin erely,
Ronald G. Thompson
for Lorencito Coal Company, LLC
