Page i <br />General Information <br />Sunland Mining Corporation mines coal from the Apex <br />~p2 Mine located in Section 21 and 22 T4N, R86W, 6 PM in <br />Routt County Colorado. Surface ownership overlaying <br />affected federal leases are as follows: <br />Knott Land & Livestock..Co., RR Oak Creek, CO <br />George Hageman Oak Creek, CO <br />Art Eyre <br />Oak Creek, CO <br />Edwin R. Yorty Oak Creek, CO <br />The Apex ~~2 Mine is located in one of a group of <br />seams known as the Pinnacle Bed. The Pinnacle Bed is <br /> situated below the Trout Creek sandstone and above the <br /> Tow Creek sandstone in the Iles formation. The entire <br />• area is highly faulted. The numerous faults run in a <br /> northwesterly direction. At least four faults are <br /> apparent on the Sunland lease. These range from 25' to <br /> 90' in vertical displacement. <br /> The surface is hilly to mountainous, with fairly <br /> steep sided valleys. Trout Creek is a perennial stream <br /> flowing from southwest to northeast having an average <br /> discharge (1953-1958) of 27.4 cfs at the gauging station <br /> near Phippsburg, Colorado. The creek has laid down small <br /> alluvial flats from 50'-250' wide in the vicinity of the <br /> Apex Mine. The eleva*_ion of the surface in the lease <br /> area ranges from 7400' to 8300'. Some meadows occur in <br /> <br /> the 7600' to 7900' elevations slightly above and to the <br />• <br /> north of the mine portals. <br />io~~ a'4Z <br />IY2 r <br />
