Overburden
• All removed overburden from the mine area has been backfilled, topsoiled,
and revegetated in accordance with the approved reclamation plan (Section
2.05.4) (Technical Revision O1 ). Prior to overburden backfilling, Sun Coal
Company prepared the following documentation:
. Conducted overburden geochemical analysis (Section 2.05.3),
. Prepared overburden grading plans (Section 2.05.4),
. Inventoried topsoil volumes (Section 2.05.4), and
. Conducted backfill geotechnical stability analysis (Section 2.05.3).
Sun Coal Company's overburden geochemical analytical program was conducted
pursuant to 2.04.9(b) in order to determine if chemical characteristics could
have an adverse effect on vegetation. Parameters analyzed by Agricultural
Consultants Inc. (11/21/83) included:
• pH, electrical conductivity, saturation percent, sodium, calcium,
magnesium, sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), texture, nitrogen, boron,
selenium, copper, molybdenum, neutralization potential, acid/base
potential.
The project scope included collecting three samples on 250-foot centers
prior to reclaiming the backfilled area. The results of the soil survey (Table
2.05.3-101 indicated no limiting factors or adverse effects were present that
would limit revegetation success.

- 196 - (Rev. 5/86)
