Sediment traps have been located below Culverts 2, 3, 4, 9, and 10, and at
• Runouts 1, lA, 2, 4, and 5. The culverts' and runouts' flow calculations are
outlined on Tables 2.05.3-8. Culvert and runout discharge flow-velocities
calculations are presented in Appendix 2.05.3-5. Appendix 2.05.3-5 summarizes
representative 100-year, 24-hour, "worst-case" flow velocities for Culverts 3,
4, and 9 and indicate corrugated metal pipe (CMP) outfall velocities are 5.47,
3.41, and 14.7 fps, respectively. Based on these calculations, runout energy
dissipators were installed on all outlets.
Surface water flow energy is dissipated using a combination of riprap and
sediment traps (Map 8). Riprap sizing is based on data presented by McLaughlin
Engineers (1969) in the section entitled "Hydraulic Structure." The size of
riprap and size of the sediment traps is presented on Table 2.05.3-8 and in
Appendix 2.05.3-5.
•
•
- 187 - (Rev. 5/86)
