4.12 EXHIBIT L -Reclamation Cos
The permit boundary encompasses 160 acres of which 90.3 acres will be disturbed by the tiu-ee
phases of mining. Of the 90.3 acres, 88.7 acres will be disturbed and reclaimed and 1.6 acres will
be disturbed and remain as an un-reclaimed access road and ditch crossings on the owner's
property. If topsoil is spread on [he 90.3 acres at a depth of 12 inches, 145,684 cubic yards of
topsoil is required. Actual material available for placement may be considerably less. The
Applicant/Operator believes there are 4 to 12 inches of material available for placement during
reclamation. However, the operator will salvage all available topsoil with the intention of
replacing topsoil to a 12-inch depth.
Reclamation Estimate
Reclamation of the permit area will be contemporaneous with the excavation of the gravel pi[ and
at no time will more than 10 acres of [he permit area be open and un-reclaimed. Phase I of the
permit area will be reclaimed before Phase II is completely opened and Phase II of the permit area
will be reclaimed before Phase III is completely opened.
The Applicant/Operatoresserts that since at no time will more than 10 acres of the permit area
will be open and un-reclaimed, 10 acres is appropriate as a base for reclamation.
Therefore, the reclamation cost estimate will be based on the placement of 16,133 cubic yards of
cover material (10 acres at 12 inches depth) on the disturbed areas of the gravel pit.
Reclamation Cost Estimate:
Remove portable equipment $2,000
Remove Piers for Temporary Scales 500
Spread & Place Topsoil/Growth Medium (16,133 cu.yds. x $1.50) 24,200
Seed & Fertilize (10.0 acres x $1201 1 200
Total Estimate for Bond
$27,900
Rece1Ved
JUN 3 p ?000
o~~
Ory~n ot~ erat~8 ~BOI~
L-1
