Representative Project Experience: Aquifer Storage and Recovery (Continuer!)
pumping and transmission, reservoir pumping and pipeline, 12-rngd surface water treatment plant,
and 12 aquifer storage-recovery wells.
Comparing Basins, Galleries, and Shallow Wells for the Recharge of a Deep Aquifer, El Paso,
TX. Project manager responsible for leading an aquiferrecharge research investigation. The purpose
ofthis study for the American Water Works Association Research Foundation was to investigate the
most reliable and cost-effective way to recharge deep aquifers. The study included pilot facility
design, design of instrumentation and control systems, and evaluation of recharge facility
performance following one year of operation.
Green River Basin Water Plan, Green River Basin, WY. Project hydrogeologist responsible for
the determination of available ground water supply in the Green River basin. Reviewed existing
literature and mapping, summarized numerous references, and generated planning estimates of
developable ground water at key locations. Investigated status and extent of water production
incidental to coal bed methane extraction.
Representative Project Experience: h7ining
Corral Canyon Coal Prospect, Wyoming. Project hydrogeologist leading investigation of a
planned surface/underground coal mine in southeastern Wyoming. Project involved drilling and
logging of exploratory holes for coal thickness determinations and stratigraphic identifications,
completion oftest production and monitoring wells, and extensive hydrologic testing to support mine
permitting and for analysis and preliminary design of a mine dewatering system for both open-pit
and underground mine development.
Emery Mine Water Supply Well, Utah. Provided guidance on well design, performed well
construction oversight, and performed testing and analysis of yield of a potable supply well at the
mine site.
Quartz Hill Molybdenum Prospect, Alaska. Lead hydrogeologist performing assessment of
hydrologic and groundwater impacts of development of a world-class molybdenum deposit in
southeastern Alaska, including impacts of tailings disposal. Also provided assessment and mapping
of avalanche risk areas.
U.S. Office of Surface Mining Permit Reviews. Provided contract support to the US Office of
Surface Mining for technical review of mine permit applications for selected mine sites in the
Western U.S.
WILLIAM F. HAHN, PG
