,, ..

2.05.6(6) Subsidence
Comment:
The City of Florence water pipeline has been identified in the
permit application as being potentially impacted by subsidence.
In the permit application the Southfield Mine committed to monitor
the pipeline Eor possible impacts from subsidence, to maintain on
site replacement pipe in the event of breakage and to work closely
with the Florence authorities in all aspects of the above moni-
toring and repair obligations. In the technical revision for an
incidental boundary drainage for 40 acres approved in December,
1986 the Southfield Mine requested not to maintain extra pipeline
for repair on site. The Southfield Mine should submit the City of
Florence's concurrence to this change. The permit application
.should be revised to reflect this change.
Response:
The permit application provides for 50 feet of 12" PVC pipe
maintained on site to serve as replacement pipe in the event of
breakage in the event of Energy Fuels' operations (Section
2.05.6(6), Subsidence: 3.5.2 Repair). The Florence waterline
• traverses approximately 5,500 feet of permit area. An additional
2,000 Eeet of the waterline lies within the 40 acre permit revi-
sion area, a 36~ increase in the length of potentially impacted
waterline. A total of 70 feet of 12" PVC will therefore be main-
tained on site for potential repair of the 7,700 feet of waterline
within the present permit boundary.
•
Revised 4/14/87
