The ist East F1a-in will be protected <br />• by a 300-foot barrier on each side in the event that <br /> there are coal reserves lying east of the East Lease. <br />In the event that 4lestern Slope Carbon, Inc. reaches <br />its economic mining limit, that is, the coal has <br />narrowed to an unmineable thickness, 1<_t East Mains <br />will be fully extracted and no barrier will be left. <br />This decision will be based on conditions in the nine <br />at the time and Sri l7 be implemented only r-ri th the rOn- <br />currence of the U.S.G.S. <br />The scrap north of the lst East ;•lain section, will <br />be developed as three sets of entries and cross-cuts and <br />will be interconnected at the southern-most portion of <br />• the swnp by a cross-cut. The purpose of the sump is to: <br />1. Handle water encountered r•rithin the mine <br />2. Settle sediment-laden water from the East <br />F1ine sediment system <br />3. Clarify thickener under-flow a:ater from <br />the wash plant <br />4. Re-cycle water from the prnposed Slurry <br />Waste Dispcsal System. <br />Panel entry chain pillars will be extracted in <br />a manner similar to past retreat sections, with the <br />exception that no rooms will be driven (see attached <br />map). Panel entries may be driven as 4, 5, or 6 entry <br />systems depending upon experience gained in the first <br />• panels. <br />
