BLM West Gravel Pit RECEIVED
NOV 19 9000
Bxh;b;t E Division of Declamation,
Reclamation Plan Mlning end BaNty
Reclamation of the permit area will return the site to a post mining land use of rangeland.
Sufficient topsoil will be maintained to cover all mining aeeas in the permit area to a depth of 6"-12".
Because of the varying depths of topsoil at this site a depth of 6"-12" is a maximum depth to be achieving
at reclamation without hauling in topsoil from another site. Topsoil piles will be revegetatted with a
mixture of grasses to maintain topsoil viability and to prevent topsoil erosion.
The majority of reclamation will commence immediately upon final extraction of the mineral materials.
Reclamation will begin by reshaping and recontouring the staging azea and pit area. This work will be
completed by the Jackson County Road and Bridge Department under the direct supervision of the Road
and Bridge Supervisor. The work will be done with a dozer, a scraper, and also a grader. Recon[oured
slopes will not exceed 3:1.
Topsoil from the adjoining piles will be respread over all disturbed areas [o a depth of at least 6" in
preparation of a uniform seed bed. The site will be seeded by the County with a mixture of native grasses
recommended by the Soil Conservation District at the time of seeding. A tentative seed mixture
recommended by the Soil Conservation District is attached. Seed shall either be drill seeded or shall be
broadcast seeded. If broadcast, the seed will se scratched into the soil.
Jackson County will monitor the site on a monthly basis to determine revegeta[ion success and to evaluate
the site stability. Jackson County will take any steps necessary to control soil erosion and repair damaged
lands. [f after one season the seeding looks as though it will be a failure, Jackson County will reseed the
site or portions of the site in accordance with this plan. After final reclamation approval by the landowner
and the State, Jackson County will remove any County installed improvements such as gates, fences, and
signs.
Jackson County has a weed control department and will utilize this department to control any noxious
weeds that may occur on the site.
