U
In April, 1987, Sedimentation Fond 008 was designed and subsequently
approved by CMLRD. Sedimentation Pond 008 was constructed August, 1987 in
the Bond Creek drainage which is tributary to Fish Creek. Pond 008 will
contain runoff from areas currently draining into Pond 007, which is
scheduled to be mined through in 1988, iri addition to runoff from areas
mined in 1988 and 1989 (see Exhibit 12-1, Operations Plan). Pond 008 is
desigr~ed to handle runoff from its entire watershed. This pond is located
in the SW# of the NWa; Sec. 7; T5N; R86W (see Exhibit 7-7).
INTRODUCTION
SITE DESCRIPTION
i a~a ii~o
Sedimentation Pond 008 has a 247-acre watershed which is tributary to Fish
Creek. The watershed is classified as a mixture of undisturbed,
disturbed, and reclaimed areas.
• Embankment
The embankment for Pond 008 is a homogeneous earth fill compacted in lifts
to design specifications. The top width of the embankment is
approximately 15 feet wide with upstream and downstream slopes of
approximately 3h:ly, respectively. The principal spillway is a 6-inch
diameter orifice cut into a 24-inch diameter drop inlet pipe. The
emergency spillway is the 24-inch diameter drop inlet LMP. The principal
spillway is located at the 100 percent sediment storage level.
DESIGN ANALYSIS
General
Sedimentation Pond 008 was designed to meet or exceed the design and
performance requirements of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division.
Sedimentation Pond 008 was constructed to adhere to the following
• specifications:
1
