The pmject is
being proposed by Western Mobile Northern, Inc., a subsidiary of Lafarge, Inc.
As property owners residing near the projxt area, we believe that the negative aspects of the
project far outweigh any long-range benefits that are illustrated in the project proposal. lire
increased number of sand and gravel trucJcs that will be operating on the streets in and around the
project will increase air pollution, noise pollution and reduce the life expectancy of roadway
infra-vwctures. Western Mobile has proposed to convert the mining grounds to a wildlife refuge
upon completion of the project. We do not believe that this is a realistic goal, as mining
operations tiro notorious for leaving pertnanetrt scars on the land they rape.
An additional concern is the impending development of the area surrounded by the mining
operation. Having been invdvod with the developmrnt of the City of Loveland's Transportation
Master Plan, I am well v~tycd in the land use proposals currently being developed for council.
'I'bis is an area that is located directly on a major easUwest transportation corridor that will
include a high volume oflow-density housing developments in the future. the proposal will
affect these development proposals as well as existing residential property owners. A lesser
concern is the effect that this project will have on property values and quality of life for existing
rtisidents.
For these reasons we implore you to disallow the project. Tire only tangible benefit it provides is
profit for Western Mobile, while providing no benefit whatsoever for the citizens of Lavcland.
Should you wish to speak with me regarding these wnccrns, 1 can be reached at (970) 962-2427
during business boon.
Sincerely,
Ralph W. ewer
City of Loveland Transit Manager

e
