The results presented herein are consistent with previously reported data for total, WAD, and free cyanide
concentrntions in the Leak Detection Sumps ('1-DS"), North Underdrain ("NUD"), South Underdrain ("SUD"),
and 4-inch spring pipe ("SP"). Flows in both the Phase I and Q Low Volume Solution Collection System
("LVSCS") aze within the range of values previously reported. The volume of water collected from the LDSs
increased in April, May, and June due to the heavy precipitation received during these months. The volurre of
water currently being pumped from the LDSs has decreased substantially from the volumes observed in May and
lone. Flows in the NUD, SUD, and SP also increased in the Second Quarter of 1999 due to the heavy
precipitation. As with the LDSs, the flows from the NUD, SUD, and SP have decreased in July. Analytical
results from the Second Quarter of 1999 continue to confirm that the valley leach facility is functioning as designed
and constructed.
A summary of the 1999 precipitation data for the site, with a comparison to the monthly and annual values for
1995 though 1998, is enclosed. An estirrta[ed total of between 10.22 and 12.95 inches of precipitation was
received in April, May, and lone. The avernge precipitation received doting these three months from 1995 though
1998 was 4.83 inches.
Please do not hesitate to contact me at 719-689-4041, if you have any questions or comments.
Sincerely,
~"" V 1.
~~
Scott A.
