• (2) The Division may for good cause shown request additional
climatological data as deemed necessary to ensure compliance with
the requirements of 2.04.8.
(3) Permit applications may comply with these requirements
regarding seasonal variability of climatological factors without the
collection of data covering 12 consecutive months if accurate statistical
procedures, approved by the Division, are used to extrapolate from a data
base covering a shorter period of time.
RSSPONSB:
The closest active reporting stations to the proposed permit
area are at Steamboat Springs, Colorado, which is about 10 miles
northeast of the proposed permit area and at Hayden, Colorado which
is about 15 miles northwest of the proposed permit area.
Approaimately SO years of meteorological data have been collected by
the Dnited States Department of Co®erce in Steamboat Springs, while
nearly 52 years of similar data have been collected in Hayden. Data
from both locations are presented below, in order to provide the
best information available for the proposed permit area and to
indicate the variability in climatological characteristics that may
be eapected within short distances.
General descriptions of the climate of western Colorado are
• difficult due to the rugged topography of the region. Because of
eztremes in elevation, large variations in climate are likely.
2.04-57
