The reports contain the normal,
required ground water sample and the surface water sample. You additionally sampled a second surface water
point, and included that report also.
Earlier this year, we discussed this second surface water sampling location, which you wish to use as a replacement
of the existing surface water sampling location. The two sample reports you submitted show the water quality to be
essentially the same. As we had agreed during our earlier discussion, the analyses of the summer 2006 surface
water samples should also be essentially identical for the Division to consider approving the sample location
change you request. So, for the first set of samples in 2006, please provide the required samples for the ground
water and the surface water, plus the additional surface water sample, and we will make our determination at that
time.
Your letter also requested that this office allow you to delete certain parameters in the water analyses. I have
discussed this with Harry Posey, and we agreed on the following:
1. You may cease analyzing for total dissolved solids (TDS) for all future samples.
2. You must continue to analyze for pH, electrical conductivity, and sulfates.
3. During periods of the year when you are processing ore with cyanide in the mill, you must analyze for WAD
cyanide. During periods when you are not processing ore, you may delete that parameter for that particular sample.
Please contact me if you wish to discuss any items in this letter. I may be reached at the Division's Durango field
office: 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, CO 81301; telephone 970-247-5193.
Sincerely,
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
Ec: Harry Posey, DMG
C:\incas wq sampling05/rco
Office of Office of Colorado
.. _~ , __~ o__I_-_..__ n,....,,. ....+ i.,.,..:,,,, u~..~~ llanlnai~al Survav
