the spring and its near vicinity. The slides together with the flow history of the springs and local geology were used to develop monitoring recommendations. Those springs not visited neither have not been located in the field from mapped locations or written descriptions, or were predetermined to remain in the monitoring program. A useful reference to this report is the annual hydrologic report submitted to the CMLRD. The recommendations of this investigation are summarized in Tabel I. ~, The map attached shows their location. ' 3.0 Summary Based upon their hydrology, the geologic framework, and their lo- cation with respect to mining related activities, some of the springs monitored for baseline are not relevant as indicators of hydrologic conditions which could be affected by mining. It was the purpose of this investigation to combine relevant data concerning the springs in the area, and use those data to eliminate nonessential monitoring points while ' maintaining the intergrity of the monitoring program. The following sum- marizes the recommended spring monitoring program for the West Elk Coal ' Mining Project. L 1.
