The Division prefers that the operator commit to the following criteria:
1. The operator will install a double lined containment system for conveying dewatering flows
from the edge of the affected area within the Tanabe Pit to the point of discharge. In the event of
a failure of the containment system that causes a leak of the dewatering flow outside the affected
azea, the operator will notify the Division within 24 hours.
2. Prior to any discharge of dewatering flows from the Tanabe Pit, the operator will provide the
Division with written correspondence from the W ater Quality Control Division stating that the
operator has approval to discharge offsite.
3. In the event of an exceedance of a state water quality standard during offsite discharge of
dewatering flows, to the extent that the Water Quality Control Division must be notified, the
operator will submit a copy of the notice to the Division.
Once again, I will look forward to your response on or before 2:45 P.M. on June 2, 2000. Rule
1.8.1 states that changes and additions to the permit application must be filed with the Division
and the County Clerk and Recorder. The applicant must also provide the Division with an
affidavit or receipt demonstrating that the change or addition was filed with the County Clerk and
Recorder no later than the close of business on the day the change was filed with the Division.
