Dept. of ~~•1~idf'~1Ces
We are writing in response to the letter that was received by Mrs. Bertha
Powell dated April 2, 1982. The following is a response to this letter:
Exhibit A-1 Enclosed is the legal description of the pit as provided
by the Costilla County Clerk's Office.
Exhibit B-1 The creation of a pond is not intended in the pit area.
Exhibit B-2 There will be no extension beyond six acres of this pit.
Our intention is to remove the existing gravel stock piled and remove
small amounts of material by cutting the slopes back to a reasonable
slope and reclamation.
Exhibit B-3 Any new areas disturbed as a result of the slope modifi-
cation or other disturbances will have top soil. Top soil will be
stripped and stock piled before underlying gravel is removed. It
will be stabilized with a perennial grass cover.
Exhibit B-4 The time table for the remaining operation on this pit
is five years.
Exhibit B-5 Gravel will be removed to twenty five feet or less.
Exhibit B-6 There are no immediate plans for having any fixed
equipment within the pit area. However, there could possibly be a
portable crushing plant at the pit no more than once a year.
