collect sediment runoffduring quarry operations, especially since Sierra does not plan to route
quarry discharge water into the waste piles. Periodic cleaning of the pond is anticipated.
The marble waste piles from pre-1941 operations have been left with slopes estimated at
approximately 1.6:1 to I.8:1 (horizontal:vertical). These piles have remained stable for over 50
years due to the large size and competent nature of the marble blocks. Sierra plans to deposit
waste so the final slope in azeas where waste is added to existing piles is 2:1 or lower. The
anticipated future use of the site is recreation and tourist sight-seeing. Exhibit D -Reclamation
Plan of this application describes the measures Sierra intends to take to ensure a stable
configuration for tbe site.
(m) Processine oo Site: Sierra anticipates no processing on site except for marble
cutting or polishing operations. Such processing operations will occur underground and involve
no process chemicals.
(o) Primary Commodities: The primary commodity produced is dimension stone in
the form of white marble blocks, slabs, and tiles. These may be further processed off-site, for
eventual sale to lazge and small marble installation shops azound the world. The end use of the
material is for architectural, sculpture, and monument applications. Secondary commodities
produced may be waste marble to be crushed and processed off-site for use in landscape and
other applications.
(o) Incidental Products: There aze no incidental products to be produced by the quarry.
21
