MINING PLAN EXHIBIT D (CONT)
This is done to avoid having a working face that is too high.
When the norther limit is reached we will begin to mine south to
the final floor elevation. The bond is calculated based on
disturbing the entire area. Therefore mining can take place on
parts of the entire permit area without exceed the bonded distur-
bance limits. Reclamation will run concurrent with mining to
reduce the amount of disturbance at any one time. At the end of
each mining season the working face will be cut/fill graded to
3:1 so the face remains stable until mining resumes. This will
mean that if mining does not resume then only resoiling of the
mine face would be needed.
This parcel can be broken into two distinct areas, the area
to be mined and area that will not be disturbed. The undisturbed
areas include the setbacks around the mined area and a small
section in the southwest gart of the mine that is a bog.
Mining equipment may include but is not limited to, scrap-
ers, motor graders, bulldozers, Tractor trailers, tandem-axle end
dumps and articulated haul trucks, Front-end loaders, Water
trucks; for dust control, Screening plants; wet and dry, Portable
conveyors, and Portable crushers. A storage/maintenance build-
ing, constructed of enameled steel siding of colors complementary
to the surroundings will be constructed on the property. This
building will be utilized for storing pit mobile equipment,
performing maintenance work on the equipment and a pit office.
Truck scales will also be installed near the maintenance shop,
then moved later on closer to the new access to the pit. Place-
ment of this temporary building is allowed in the Grand County
Special Use Permit. The building will be removed when mining is
complete or if a deal can be made with the landowners it will be
left for their use.
MIIVIIVG PLAN
The Rattenberg Pit will be a dry mine, except for the water
used to produce washed gravel products at some time in the
future. All materials will be mined using scrapers, front-end
loaders and haul trucks. No blasting will be required with the
operation. Screening, crushing, stockpiling and washing will
occur on site. Dewatering of the pit will not be needed.
Production from the Rattenberg Pit will begin in 2004 and con-
tinue for 10 to 15 years, depending on demand for the products.
6
