gradual decline over the last few years in well GLUX-1 likely due to less precipitation the fast • <br />six years. <br />Figure A-7 presents water levels for wells GFl, GF7 and P-8. These wells are <br />completed in the 20 Mile, HI bacldill and 3rd White Sandstone aqu'~ers, respediivey. Well <br />GFl was a flowing well but water levels had declined in 1999 to below the top of the casing <br />and were fairly steady in 2003. Water levels in this deep aquifer would not be expected to <br />quickly respond to either a low or high precipitation event. Water levels in well GF5 <br />gradually decined in 2003, while levels were steady in well GF7 (both completed in the HI <br />baddill). The larger storage value in the unconfined backfill aquifer may dampen the effects <br />of dry and wet years. The recovery from the A pit mining in this area may be complete. <br />The water levels in well P-8 gradually declined in 2003. <br />Water levels for wells GF-2 and GF-4 are presented in Flgure A-8. Water levels in <br />well GF2 have been quite stable for a number of years. The U aquifer lies beneath the coal <br />horizons. A large rise in water level in well GF4 was observed in the last hall of 1999 after <br />the repair of the casing on September 29, 1999. Water levels were overall steady in 2003 in <br />well GF-4 at the top of the casing or slightly above. Mining occurred south of welt GF4 in <br />the early 1980's and is expected to limit water-level changes in the HI aquifer near well GF <br />4. Water levels in the upgradient urxonfined baddill aquifer do not fluctuate as much as <br />the confined HI aquifer. It is also possible that the backfill spring in Johnson Guk:h may be <br />limiting tf~e head in the baddill aquifer. <br />Fgure A-9 presents water levels for wells GF3 (KLM aquifer) and COY (alluvium}. <br />The water levels in well GF3 varied over a similar range in 2003 without indicating a trend. <br />Water levels at the COY well gradually rose in 2003. The unconfined alluvial aquifer <br />responds gradually to recharge changes. <br /> <br />2-6 <br />
