The lining of the 4.1-acre pond was not approved by the division engineer therefore
the 9.81 acre-feet of evaporative loss from this pond is also included in this plan.
The 33.3 acres of groundwater exposed at La Poudre site comprise 0.7 acre of
dewatering trenches and a sump pond, and three separate ponds that expose ground water
totaling 32.6 acre-feet.
The 10 acres of groundwater exposed at North La Poudre site comprise two separate
ponds that expose ground water totaling 23.93 acre-feet.
The Firestien/Tigges/Roberts Aggregate Mine comprises three adjacent properties; the
Firestien, Tigges and Roberts parcels. The currently proposed plan anticipates dry mining of the
Tigges parcel by way of a dewatering trench with aggregate processing and concrete batching to
occur on the Firestien parcel. The unlined mining areas on each of these parcels are located
greater than 100 feet from the Cache la Poudre River. The Applicant has provided a monthly
schedule of lagged depletions to the river system resulting from losses at these combined sites.
The proposed source of replacement water for this combined plan is historic
consumptive use credits available from twelve shares of the Whitney Ditch, used for the
irrigation of 342 acres on Firestien/Tigges/Roberts properties. Firestien farmed 134 acres,
which was irrigated with seven shares of Whitney Ditch. The entire seven shares will be
dedicated to this plan. The Tigges farm consisted of ten shares of Whitney Ditch, which
historically irrigated 120 acres. The applicant has dedicated four shares to this plan and will
reserve six shares to be used to cover walk-away requirements. The Roberts farm consists of
seven shares used on 88 acres and the applicant will dedicate one share for this plan, with the
remaining six shares being reserved for walk-away requirements. The total consumptive use
available for the twelve shares of Whitney Ditch averaged 189.72 acre-feet. In addition to the
twelve shares of Whitney Ditch water ten shares of Windsor Reservoir are dedicated as
replacement water to this plan. The ten shares of Windsor Reservoir were historically used on
the Kirby, Foster and Ehrlich #1 farms, all no longer irrigated. During the months of September
through April, when there is a deficit, releases totaling 247.51 of historic use credit will be made
from the Windsor Reservoir (as reflected in the attached table). The water form the Windsor
Reservoir may be exchanged to the New Cache La Poudre Irrigation Company during the
summer months and then delivered to Sand Creek for releases to the Cache La Poudre River.
