It is the goal of
the Henderson Mine management team to strictly comply with the terms of 'the Act
and to minimize the environmental impacts of our operations.
At our August 5 meeting two geologic maps provided the basis for discussion
and the eventual development of our preliminary plan. The first map docurr!ented the
extensive mineralization of the area. The second map (attached) documented the
extensive occurrence of Precambrian bedrock surrounding and underlying the Mine
site. In addition, shallow soil cover and porous glacial deposits were shown in the
West Fork of Clear Creek drainage immediately downgradient from the site, with
Precambrian bedrock surfacing again less than one half mile downstream from the
Mine site. These downstream outcrops are coincident with a historic surface water
sampling site. Division personnel questioned whether upstream and downstream
surface water quality monitoring had shown contaminant loading across the site. Data
were presented that showed the random nature of loading or dilution of in stream
contaminants as the stream crosses our site, indicating that the contaminant source is
