Catches on Karch 28 were <br />the lowest of the four sample periods. Only 4 whitefish were collected <br />is the upstream traasect, while 13 whitefish, 6 speckled dace, and <br />1 white sucker were caught in the downstream traasect. High water <br />Levels and extremely fast flows during this period may have limited the <br />efficiency of electrofishiag. <br />Although the distribution of fish numbers is the two transects was <br />different is July and September, total numbers captured were similar. <br />The July 1 survey revealed larger catches in the downstream traasect. <br />Of the 127 fish collected is the downstream stretch, speckled dace and <br />redside shiner shared dominance by each comprising 38 percent of the <br />total catch, or 48 specimens. Five additional species occurred is the <br />downstream transect but each represented less than 10 percent of the <br />total numbers. Only 43 fish were collected in the upstream traasect, <br />which were comprised mainly of redside shiner (58 percent), white sucker <br />(13 percent), and speckled dace (13 percent). Results of the ~~ <br />September 25 survey showed larger catches in the upstream transect. The <br />most abundant fish species in the upstream stretch was speckled dace <br />which comprised 69 percent of the 130 fish captured. The only other <br />abundant species was mottled sculpia which represented 14 percent of the <br />total catch. Ia addition, one gamefish species, brawn trout, was <br />collected is low numbers is the upstream traasect. Eleetrofishiag is <br />the downstream transect yielded 62 fish with the most abundant species <br />being redside shiner (50 percent), speckled dace (29 percent), and white <br />sucker (11 percent). <br />Surveys conducted on November 6 produced the largest catches of the <br />four sample periods. Fish numbers were nearly equal with 127 and <br />112 fish collected is the upstream and downstream transects, <br />respectively. Dominant species in the upstream stretch included <br />speckled dace and redside shiner with percent relative abundances of <br />38 percent and 35 percent, respectively. Two brown trout and one <br />whitefish also were captured in the upstream section. The most abundant <br />species in the downstream traasect were speckled dace (46 percent), <br /> <br />mottled sculpia (28 percent), redside shiner (18 percent), and ~, <br />unidentified suckers (11 percent). <br />10 <br />
