<br />REVISED SPECIFICATION <br />Emergency Spillway <br />Grouted Gabions. <br />Materials -Gabion baskets to be used in the emergency spillway will meet the <br />requirements of the enclosed "Galvanized Gabion Specification" as <br />manufactured by the Maccaferri Gabions Company or equivalent. <br />Ready mixed concrete used in conjunction with the Gabion baskets must meet <br />the following specifications: <br />Cement: Portland Cement Type IA should be mixed in the following <br />portions: Air-entrained 400 LB cement and 100 LB fly ash per cubic yard <br />or 475 LB cement per cubic yard. <br />• <br />Water: A normal range water reducer shall be added to the water. <br />Aggregate: 3/8 inch maximum size peat gravel, ASTM size 8, should be <br />used. <br />Air Content: The air content should be between 6-996. <br />Slump: A 6 inch to 9 inch slump shall be maintained. <br />Execution - Gabion baskets shall be placed according to the enclosed <br />"Galvanized Gabion Specification". <br />Ready mix concrete shall be poured on the top of the rock filled gabion <br />baskets when all baskets are at the 2/3 full mark (i.e. a 1 foot thick basket <br />shall have 8 inches of rock in it). After the pour, the remaining rock will be <br />placed and the baskets sealed. <br /> <br />-2- <br />
