WATER CONSERVATION BOARD
LETTER OF 9/17/60
From Randolph Seaholm
i
Weld County has contacted the Army Corps of Engineers regarding
information on the St. Vrain Flood Plain. Although the study
is not completed, preliminary mans and data have been supplied
by the Corps. The County is presently having the proposed op-
eration analized, using the Corps information, to determine
what effects there may be on flooding. The mining operation will
be constructed in such a mannner that the 100 year flood will
pass without adverse effects on others. Stock piles of materials
will be parallel with the river to minimize flow restriction. The
attached sketch shows a proposed typical layout.
It will not be possible to keep the crusher or stock piles out
of the flood plain. However, any permanent storage of fuel will
be done out of the flood plain.
The 100 year flood plain and flood way is presently being put
on the application drawings according to maps supplied by the Corps.
