• energy fuels coal, inc. i
soufhlield mine • post ollice box a49 • Oorence, coiorado Bt226 • (303) 76a-6395
Letter to Mr. Gregg Squire
April 16, 1986
Page two
The proposed permit area addition shown on Map 1, Florence Lease
Mine Plan is a projection to the surface of the maximum area which
may be affected by mine subsidence. A 25 degree angle of draw was
used for the projection. Average coal thickness in the area is approx-
imately seven feet at an average mining depth of 1,080 feet. The
effects of subsidence and mitigation measures are the same as those
addressed in Section 2.05.6(6) of the approved permit application.
All surface features which are subject to subsidence affects are shown
on Map 1, Florence Lease Mine Plan. They include Newlin Creek, the
Florence City water line, power line and County Road 15. Each of the
above mentioned surface features are specifically addressed with re-
spect to subsidence in Section 2.0. Section 2.05.6(6) of the approved
permit application is incorporated herein by this reference.
• The geology and hydrology of the area subject to this request is iden-
tical to that in the adjacent permitted area. Additionally, the mine
plan is also identical to that in adjacent areas. Detailed descrip-
tions of the hydrology, geology and affects of mining are discussed
fully in Sections 2.04.6, 2.04.7 and 2.05.6(3) permit application.
Sections 2.04.6, 2.04.7 and 2.05.6(3) of the approved permit appli-
cation are incorporated herein by this reference.
Since this technical revision request does not contemplate additional
surface disturbance associated with the mining activities at the South-
field Mine, no additional reclamation bond is necessary.
The area proposed for inclusion in state Permit C-014-81 as described
herein is not located on any lands subject to prohibitions or lim-
itations described in Section 2.OZ.6(2) (d) of the MLRD Regulations.
If you need further information or clarification of any matter sub-
ject to this request, please don't hesitate to contact either David
Gossett or myself. Thank you in advance for your prompt attention
to this request.
Sincerely,
rte: ~r .C°: - ~~`~\~i~
:.~ ie:l S.
