INTRODUCTION
• --"---
James huller, Errvirormiental Coordinator, Wyoming flael Company,
met with officials from OSM, Colorado MLRB, and Colorado
Division of Wildlife to determine what fish and wildlife
resources information will be required (Attachment 1G
and ZG). Since the area had been studied by the Colorado
Division of Wildlife, it was agreed that Wyoming Fuel
Company should submit the information on the Colorado
Division of Wildlife HB1071 Wildlife Distribution Maps
and the 1973/74 Colorado Inventory Maps. It was also
recommended that Wyoming Fuel Company incorporate the
information from the Environmental Assessment No. CO-O10-
9-183, prepared by the Bureau of Land Management (Appendix H)•
Baseline data for the lands within the existing
permitted Canadian Strip Mine was not collected. At the
• time this permit application was submitted, the coal
reserves were mined out. That is, the total existing
permit area was already disturbed, rendering the collection
of baseline data and any meaningful comparison to the
pre-existing environment impractical.
The following information was obtained from the
Colorado Division of Wildlife, from Environmental Assessments
CO-010-9-183 and CO-010-81-53, from published information
sources and from site inspections of the property.
1. Wildlife Habitat Types
For the purposes of describing wildlife seasonal
use and habitat affinities, the lease area may be broken
into three broad wildlife habitat types, taking into
consideration soils, vegetation, topography, wind and
snow accumulation:

-1-
