~• 2.04.3
1. fi 2. The land use of the permit area has remained basically
the same for the past five (5) years, that is mining and
grazing and/or rangeland with wildlife habitat. The mining
history of the permit area is well defined in Section 4.1 of
the permit. To summarize, strip mining has existed from 1977
until the present, with deep mining from 1903 until 1952. This
is evidenced by the old works.
The writer of this particular section of the permit
considered "highland agriculture" as the only other historic
land use for the area. However we could find no definition or
terminology for this designation. In actuality, the term
r should be grazing and/or rangeland that is an open area for
`• cattle to roam and graze. A copy of a notarized statement from
the land owners attesting to the fact that no other historic
use existed for the past five (5) years will be forthcoming.
The permit itself, on page IV-4 last paragraph, defines land
use prior to mining as rangeland and wildlife habitat.
The term "highland agriculture" will be changed to
"grazing and/or rangeland" within the permit and a copy of
the letter will become an exhibit to Section 4.1.
~~
~A
