Thompson: Attached for vour review is the Certification of the final construction of the Gulch A Sediment Pond. In addition to the Certification, the following figures/drawings are included for your review: i. Fiaure 1: Plan view of Gulch A pond showing the completed pond, location of e:r~ergency spillway, location of primary spillway and dewatering device, discharge flu-=_, rip,rap areas, access road for future dredging, and cleaning pad for future dredging. 2. Figure 2: Cross sections of dam and emergency spillway. The cross section locations are shown in Figure 1. 3. Figure 3: Plan view of Gulch A Pond showing locations that bentonite was mixed with native soils to ensure stability. 4. Figure 4: Locations for compaction tests. 5. Table 1: Data su,~nary for Gulch A Pond. All specifications in the approved plan for the Gulch A Pond have been .met or exceeded as shown in the following data summary (Table 1). As shown in the accompanying figures, the excavation was two feet deeper than originally designed. Since an access road and cleaning pad for future dredging were added to the structure during construction, a sutsequent decrease in capacity would have occurred, so zdditional capacity was obtained by excavating two feet deeper. In addition, the width of the emergency spillway was increased so the slope cn the sides of the spillway could be decreased to accommodate future truck traffic from the cleaning pad. The cross sectional area of the emergency spillway increased from 45 ft.2 to 52 ft.2.
