After each of the conductor casings were drilled to
the desired depth the complete drill string would have to be thoroughy
decontaminated and prior to continuing drilling. The mud tanks or
anything that had came into contact.with the contamination would be
thoroughly decontaminated, prior to advanang the boring, beyond the
conductor casing. These holes were drilled with Air Rotary, Mud Rotary,
Auger, and the bedrock was cored using NX Wireline, and NC Wiretine.
The existing 700' deep plus water wells were abandoned.
Lowry Air Force Base:
Ground Exploration Company, Inc. has worked at the Lowry Air Force
Base for over 10 years drilling monitoring wells around underground
storage tanks and throughout the area, including abandoned landfills.
We have been very active in drilling wells since it has been determined
that this base would be closed. We have been involved in the closure of
the base since the last three year. Lowry Air Force Base has had
numerous landfills dating back to the 1940's, when it was active air force
base. No control was done on these landfills as they were being filled.
Ground Exploration Company, Inc. drilled numerous holes through these
landfills. Numerous plumes of shallow groundwater were determined to
have some contamination. Ground Exploration Company, Inc. had
drilled throughout the site to determine were these plumes were.
We also drilled deep wells in which conductor casing was placed using a
12" diameter hollow stem auger drilled to the bedrock. We placed a 8"
schedule .188" wall steel casing, which was grouted to the surtace. After
allowing the grout sufficient time to harden the tiring was advanced to
the second aquifer. Care was taken to ensure that no cross
contamination was made from the upper aquifers to the lower aquifers.
Rocky Flats Industrial Site In North Jefferson County CO:
This site was a manufacture of nuclear weapons triggers tram the mid
1950's. This has been a high profile site which has radioactive and
solvent contamination scattered throughout the site. Ground Exploration
