Fax (3013) 420-9973
Highlight of Projects
Ground Exporation Company, Inc. has based our reputation and is proud of being one
of the premiere drilling companies in the Denver Basin, which specializes in the more
difficult drilling projects- These are but a few of the projects that we have completed in
the past few years, which have required grouting and surface casing, careful drilling
programs to obtain the desired resuRs. (Many of our clients request that we sign a
confidentiality statement that releases no information or little information concerning
the site condition or the drilling program, including their names.)
DADS LandTill (Lowry Landfill):
Ground Exploration Company, Inc. was hired by the owners consultant
to drill monitoring wells to determine if the soils directly below the trash
envelope were saturated and wet. The difficulty was that the trash was
80' to 90' thick and the owner did not know the exact elevation in which
the soil would be encountered. The Colorado Health Department had
concerns that the soils directly beneath the envelope were saturated,
which was leading to contamination of the additional soils below the
landfill.
Ground Exploration Company, Inc. had to determine the exact
thickness of the trash and place a conductor casing that point. Another
problem was that the trash consisted of anything from household trash,
construction trash, metal of all sizes, and a occasional tire. The previous
contractor on the site was using mud rotary wRh little success in
determining the exact depth of the bottom of the trash. They were unable
to grout a conductor casing that would adequately satisfied the Cobrado
Health Department, as to the quality of the seal- Ground Exporation
Company, Inc. was selected for this project because our expertise in
drilling with large diameter hollow stem and grouting casings into place.
This project was accomplished as follows:
The wells were drilled using a 8.25' I.D. hollow Stem, which
creates a 12' O.D. hole. Samples were taken with a
standard split spoon, every 5' to approximately 80'. At that point
continuous samples were taken until the upper clay layer was
